Kenjaku’s plan, Tengen’s fusion with humanity, has been one of the most anticipated events in Jujutsu Kaisen. The mastermind has been working on it for over 1000 years, and the “Culling Game” was the ritual in preparation for the fusion. However, as we quickly approach the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, fans are eagerly waiting to see if the fusion will happen or not. But I have proof that the long-awaited fusion will never happen in Jujutsu Kaisen. Let’s look at the facts.
Spoiler alert:This article contains heavy spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, specifically the Culling Game and Shinjuku Showdown arcs.
JJK fans have been waiting for the merger for a long time

Before we learn why the fusion would never happen, here’s a quick recap of what the fusion is to refresh your memory. So, remember Kenjaku, the antagonist who stole Geto’s body and has orchestrated the symphony of chaos since the beginning of the series. He had one goal in mind: to make Tengen’s fusion with humans happen.
He detailed his grandiose plan to fuse Master Tengen and the non-sorcerers of Japan to bring down a monstrous curse on this world. He wanted to kill two birds with one stone, that is, to optimize the cursed energy and fully satisfy his curiosity about the entity born from the fusion.
The mad wizard thus created and inaugurated the Culling Game to fuel the fusion process. However, he was unable to achieve his ambition as Yuta Okkotsu killed him just before he could initiate the fusion.
Only Megumi has the power to pull the trigger.
Kenjaku had made different rules for the slaughter game to keep him alive and reach fusion at the end. He was always ten steps ahead of everyone and had also calculated the scenario in which he would lose his life. As a result, he created a backup rule that would be set if he was killed. Thus, when Kenjaku was defeated by Yuta, the authority to activate the fusion was passed to Megumi Fushiguro in chapter 248.

At that time, Ryomen Sukuna was inhabiting Megumi’s body, so the King of Curses had the ultimate power to trigger the fusion. This was an excellent plan B set up by Kenjaku, who completely trusted Sukuna to defeat the sorcerers. Unfortunately, for him, it didn’t go as he wanted from the start.
During the fight against Sukuna in Shinjuku, Itadori Yuji awakened his true cursed technique, opened his domain, and defeated the King of Curses to free Megumi from his control. As per the new rule added to the Culling Game, the authority to initiate the fusion was passed to Megumi and not Sukuna.
And now that Megumi’s body and soul are no longer trapped by Sukuna and he has recovered, we can be one hundred percent sure that Megumi will never choose to activate the fusion in his lifetime...
I discovered this rule while rereading the Shinjuku Showdown arc this weekend, and I think a lot of JJK fans seem to have forgotten about this new rule, which transferred authority to Megumi. So I thought I’d highlight the solid evidence we have of Gege Akutami’s mind and remind everyone that the chances of a fusion happening are slim, especially with only two chapters left.
I know many of you in the JJK fandom had to wait to see Kenjaku’s fusion, but Akutami sensei seems to have abandoned it in favor of a happy ending that brings (almost) everyone back to life.
That said, do you think the fusion will still happen in Jujutsu Kaisen? Let us know in the comments below.
