Android 15 doesn’t seem like a major update at first glance, but it brings some much-needed features like notification cooldown, app archive, Private Space, and more. While the Android 15 developer previews and betas were happening, it seemed like the update would roll out last month. However, it has been pushed back to a later date. In the latest news, we finally know the exact Android 15 release date.

According to Android, The final stable version of Android 15 could potentially arrive on October 15. Google usually releases major updates on Mondays, so the release should have happened on October 14. Since it is a holiday (Columbus Day) in the US, the update could arrive on October 15.

On release day, only Google Pixel phones, Pixel 6 and above, will be able to install and use Android 15. Other OEMs will likely announce their brand-new skins based on Android 15 in the coming days. I can’t wait to try out Nothing OS 3.0 and One UI 7.0 as soon as they’re released. But, in the meantime, you can check out this complete list of Android 15 compatible devices to see whether or not your phone will be getting the vanilla Android update.

For those who don’t know, Google pushed Android 15 to AOSP in September, and it’s the longest Pixel users have waited for a new version after its AOSP release. We don’t know the reasons for the delay. Android Expert Michael Rahman (via X) said that this could be because Google wants to make sure the version is much more stable when it is released. This makes sense given that previous Android versions had some annoying bugs when they were released.

That said, the Android 15 release date is certainly great news for Pixel owners. And we hope to see other manufacturers offering their versions of Android 15 soon. What do you think of Android 15? Are you happy with the overall changes so far? Let us know in the comments.
