Spoiler warning: This article includes major spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
The immensely popular Shonen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen, by Gege Akutami ended with chapter 271. The release of the previous chapter had sent the entire JJK fandom into a frenzy, with many speculating that an announcement for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, part 2, was going to arrive with the final chapter of JJK. So the big question is: will the Jujustu Kaisen manga have a sequel? Well, you’re not the only one wondering if Gege will return with the second part of his witchcraft manga, Jujutsu Kaisen.
So let’s find out what author Gege Akutami had to say in the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen about his plans for the future.
Is there a Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 coming out?

Based on the way Gege Akutami started summarizing all the plot points of the manga, it’s no wonder fans started waiting for a sequel. Additionally, after the release of Chapter 270, its final panel hinted that Gege would announce a new project. This sent the fandom into a spiral and all minds turned to the idea of Jujustu Kaisen Part 2.
However, it was later confirmed that the announcement was for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. reach 100 million copies in circulation milestone.
While Gege could revive the JJK manga with a sequel or prequel, it seems that the author has no plans for Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 at the moment. If Gege had already planned a sequel, then he would have highlighted the announcement of a second part in the last panel of the last chapter, i.e. JJK Chapter 271. However, the editor’s note and Gege’s final comment – “I will continue to do my best in my future work” reveals that this is not the case. Gege seems to be working on a new manga, however.
A Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel/Prequel Could Still Happen

All fans know how Gege left more than many mysteries and intrigues unanswered in his Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Thus, Gege’s dream work cries out for a sequel from him. Gege concludes the story beautifully by recalling the first chapter and showing Sukuna’s last remaining finger in a wooden box.
But this time, things have changed since the finger is no longer considered a threat. Today, people use it as a talisman to protect themselves from curses, as it was intended from the beginning. However, fans are still hoping for a sequel to the manga in the future, but I must add that the chances of the next payment happening are slim.
For me, Sukuna’s brief conversation with Mahito, as well as the final panel, marks the end of the story with the Curse King accepting his current reality. Yuji also got his desired ending because his Gojo sensei (read if Gojo was revived in the latest chapter of JJK) dreamed of where he would replace him. As Yuji’s grandfather wished in the first chapter, Yuji will continue to help people no matter what. All these facts combined make it a natural conclusion to Gege’s dark fantasy manga.
Therefore, I think Gege Akutami’s time with Jujutsu Kaisen is over and he will start focusing on new works. At present it is assumed that Gege might come up with a new idol manga. In case you didn’t know, Gege wanted to move on to drawing an idol manga after finishing JJK 0 (see Jujutsu Kaisen in order). But his editor advised him to stick to JJK, and thus the series was born. This is exactly why fans are expecting him to return to his old project now that JJK is officially over.
To summarize, Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2 is not happening at the moment, even though fans continue to yearn for a manga sequel. That said, let us know if Gege should continue the Jujutsu Kaisen manga or not in the comments below. Should he tell Sukuna’s origin story? Or should he explain how the top three Jujutsu families came to be?
